Idea - StrapTab

Ok, so iPhography is meant to be about spontaneous life recording but thanks to Apples major oversight on the iPhone, you:

  • Are too scared to take it to the beach because it may be dropped in the water
  • Don’t want to loose it overboard whilst whale watching
  • Keep leaving it on your Mcdonalds tray & dumping it in the bin when its under a wrapper
  • Take your drinks at the nightclub but with your hands full you forget & leave it on the bar
  • Just can’t get it out of your pocket / handbag fast enough.

What ever the reason may be, not having a way to attach a strap or lanyard to your iPhone is a major drawback (especially for Japanese that want to have half of Disney Tokyo hanging off their ‘keitai denwa’ mobile phones)

An accessory maker (that would like to make a generous donation to moi) could easily solve the problem & allow us to enjoy our iPhones in all of their sexiness with just a screen film & without the need for a case

The following accessory would allow just about any strap, keyring, or lanyard to be attached to your iPhone.

A thin sliver of metal could be attached using a high quality adhesive. It would be available in Black & white or silver when the iPhone gets a metal back. The most logical place to attach would be the bottom right corner (when screen is pointing away from you). All of the corners of the StrapTab would be rounded especially where the strap attaches to avoid wear & tear. You may even be able to include it with a screen film/protector as a package or even a lanyard or shock cord or retractable cord.

Of course the StrapTab could be square, rectangular or any other shape your heart desires.

If you were to use a shock cord (one of those spiral plastic cords) we recomend 75cm to 90cm not the 150cm ones because any longer will result in it hitting the ground for the averaged size person if they were to clip it to their belt loops. And don’t forget to put a decent clip on it not an ugly plastic one. Attention to detail is everything. I brought back some excellent ones last year from Yodabashi in Tokyo, they have heavens sh*tload of mobile accessories.

I would be willing to pay $7.99 to $10 au if the StrapTab had great adhesive & maybe more if it included other accessories

My last mobile was a piece of poo compared to my iPhone so I had no worries drilling into it to be able to attach my “drunk cord” but I’m not so keen to void my iPhones warranty.

I’m looking forward to the royalties someone making the StrapTab for all of you keen iPhographers out there & also to reviewing it, i’ll be totally objective of course! ;P
