App Review - SteadyCam 1.0
This will be a quick review because in short it’s a simple app that does what it says.
SteadyCam takes an iPhograph when the accelerometer detects the iPhone being held steady so as to not introduce any blur
Sorry my sample shots are boring, I’ll try to get some night examples soon.
First screen - with a simple button at the bottom. It doesn’t make you wait through a startup screen. The only way they could improve this apps simplicity is to add ‘touch anywhere’ to take iPhograph.

This is the actual shot taken in very low light, no blur other than me being to close

The saving screen is quick & only pops up for a few seconds

Another feature of the SteadyCam is that you can use it to take self portraits. Just press the button & keep wobbling the iPhone untill your ready. That way you wont need to find the cameras small button when the iPhones screen is faced away from you.
You’ll get best use from the app taking pics of night landscapes/cityscapes etc because if it’s used for people & they move they are still going to be blurred.
All in all a great ‘Steady Cam’, so we are giving it a Highly Recommended dependant on 2 things.
- We tried the free promotional version so we hope they don’t set the price high when it’s no longer free
- The iTunes app page description of future features says they will introduce a preview. We hope they don’t introduce the dreaded preview / save or retake page which would slow down a simple & elegant app. If people want to see what the iPhograph looks like, they can go to their library after capturing all of their iPhographs. I hope they just mean that the saving page will flash up a quick version of the iPhograph like Apples camera app does.
