It’s our bat & ball & if you don’t like it…. Bugger off!

To the FCC or any other organisation that wants to butt in & tell Apple what to to with their App store, we say shut your big fat pie holes! Yes we know that you want to assert your authority from time to time to justify your relevance but in this case it’s completely unnecessary.

For those of you who don’t know, the FCC has recently asked Apple to explain it’s actions in not (yet) approving the Google Voice app. We totally agree that Apples iPhone should be allowed to be used in any way a person sees fit, as after you purchase something it’s yours to do as you will, stick it up your bum or hammer a nail into a wall with it for all we care. It’s your choice! (Disclaimer - iPhography.com in no way endorses shoving iPhones up peoples bottoms, as it has been proven to be bad for reception). BUT.. the Apps store is a totally different situation. The App store is a “space” that Apple has created & as such they should be able to do with it what they want. Dont like it? go elsewhere.

If I own a Gallery should I be forced to use my time & resources to admit & support any little tommy that wants to submit his crayola creations for exhibition? If I own a supermarket, should I have to sell every grandma’s favourite jam recipe just because they think it’s fab tasting? If buy a nice new apartment do I have to let anyone who thinks it would be nicer if they lived there to rent it?

No, No No!

It frustrates me that when a SPACE becomes visable in the public realm that people think they have an entitlement to it. You have no entitlement to anything until it its given to you or you purchase it. So until you purchase an app from the app store, no one has any rights or entitlement to it & they can only view or obtain it, at the space owners discretion. The rightful owner of any space has the right to maintain & operate that space in anyway they see fit as long as they show a duty of care to anyone whom they allow to use it. As such Apple has maintained upmost care in approving every app individually, having warnings & restrictions for adult & violent content & also that the code wont harm any other features that the person has already purchased with their iPhone.

As to people who complain that Apple is wrong in not allowing voice over IP through mobile networks as opposed to wi-fi, then would you rather pay a sh*tload more for your iPhones? AT & T in America subsidises the cost of your iPhone. In return it asks that Apple stop people from making free phone calls though it’s mobile network so it can make money from phone calls deeeerrrrr & fair enough it is. Of course I hate mobile networks as much as everyone else in the universe, but until Apple creates a way for us to all join our iDevices together in a massive mesh network & bypass the EVIL Telco’s,  we will have to pay them for the investment they have made into existing infrastructure. Lets just hope it doesn’t continue to be as expensive as it is now or Telco’s will soon find themselves irrelevant. There is only so long that you can keep people back when we realise that air is much harder to charge for than wires that can be controlled

So FCC & any other twats, we are taking our bat & ball & gonna go play in the other field. You can stand still if you want, but please don’t follow us
