Is Apple getting lost??
Because we are!
Apple.com is recently unaccessible more & more. So getting any info or instructions on setting up the new iPhone is a bit difficult. (FYI we’re trying to access from Australia & yes every other domain works fine)
The new video capabilities of the 3GS would make it fantastic to carry freshly shot videos in your pocket, along with iPhographs & Music to share with friends. Well we’re wrong!
After you sync your videos with your computer they vanish……………….. pooof without the puff of smoke. Yes, they’re on your computer now but no way of getting them back onto the iPhone. So no taking those recent ski video’s to your grandma to share your fun with her. Your mobile’s videos are not very mobile.
Sure there may be a complicated way to do it, like shuffling them between programs or something but there was no tick box to sync videos in iTunes settings
If that isn’t bad enough:
- You first have to open iPhoto to sync your photos & videos to your comp. Then you have to open iTunes to sync them back to your iPhone
- Your TV shows & movies are stored in iTunes (Are they tunes?)
- Your videos from your iPhone are stored in iPhoto (Are they photo’s?)
- But when you double click on them in iPhoto instead of zooming up ready to play in screen like the photos do, it opens quicktime in another window. So far we have used 3 programs to do 1 thing.
- Then to edit your movies you open iMovie as even though you can edit photo’s in IPhoto you can’t edit videos in iPhoto. So lets open a 4th program
- Oh and your apps are stored in iTunes (Because software is music?)
Have they hired people from Microsoft? The kings of bloat & confusion
As mentioned before here is our solution:
- iPhoto will store, view & edit photos
- iTunes will store, play & edit sound
- iMovie will store, view & edit motion graphics
- iText will store, view & edit written doccuments
- iArt will store, view & edit art
- iWeb will store, view & edit websites
- iSync will sync all devices, clouds & apps
- iBackup will backup all data to all mediums
- 1 combined Apple Store instead of itunes store, app store & the apple store with 1 account
All apps will be available as free downloads for Mac & PC s Apple has profitable tie-ins for all apps. Boxed edition will have a small cost. Maybe some of the app names mentioned are already taken but Apple has before come to a deal with trademark owners, the perfect example being iPhone with Cisco

Read on if you like more details on how this could be achieved
- Only music is stored in iTunes (including music you create, ringtones, audio books & sound podcasts). Garageband becomes the music editing part of itunes to edit & make your own music & podcasts. eg. you click on a track & it plays or double click to start editing it in the same window (kind of like iPhoto). Purchased songs would be locked from editing but artists could have a setting to allow users to remix their songs in the iTunes editor (Formerly Garageband) Not only can you buy music or have paid subscriptions to audio podcasts & Audio books through itunes (via the new Apple store) But there would be a service where music creators could sell & publish straight to music section of the apple store & Artists could bypass labels if they wished. Buy & sell in iTunes
- A centralised Apple store which sells everything from Macs & iPods to music to movies to TV shows & apps. Apple wont need the double iTunes/iPod tab. Each person would just have an Apple account not an iTunes account. There would be no confusion then between the iTunes store & the iTunes app or the app store. This would also create the ultimate halo for Apple in which more people would be tempted to buy more Apple products
- All software will now be called apps to unify anything be it for desktop or iPhone or tablet etc & create an app market & distribution system for the Mac. Buy & sell Apps
- Only photo’s will be stored in iPhoto & as you can already do, you can also edit them. The major changes here is no videos & you can purchase & sell your photos. Apple can enter the stock photography business (& it’s a big business). Buy & sell in iPhoto
- iMovie will store your movies, TV shows, video podcasts, videos. Basically anything that is an image with motion. You can edit you vidoes/movies & podcasts here. You will also be able to publish & sell them with 1 click. Buy & sell in iMovie
- iText will store your email, ebooks, ezines, SMS back ups, notes, chat backups. Basically everything written. It will replace mail, notes, pages & text edit. It will be your 1 stop shop to view & edit text. you will be prompted with whether you would like to check email or compose an email, note or letter etc etc. Creators will be able to publish their books, magazines, zines & poems straight to the Apple store. Keynote & numbers will be merged as 1 app with 2 sections called iwork as they are really related & only used by the same people but everyone needs a wordprocessor/text editor. Buy & sell in iText
- A new program called iArt will be created to facilitate drawing, sketching & painting. iArt will not only store stuff created in iArt but also other programs like your PDF’s or photoshop files etc. You will have just 1 location to store, organise, view & create art. You can crop, rotate, resize etc all images. You will also be able to buy & sell your art through the apple store either as a digital download like a jpg or printed on various mediums eg. posters & cards. Buy & sell in iArt
- Safari will be renamed iWeb & in the fashion of the other apps it will not only find, sort, bookmark, organise & view websites but to also create them. You will just be able to visit your own site & click edit to start changing it in the browser or to add a blog post etc. You will also view your web/rss subscriptions in it. Buy webspace in iWeb (mobileme)
- isync will handle the transfer of everything between devices & clouds (like mobile me). eg. isync will open when you connect an iPhone to your mac or when you connect a tablet to your laptop etc. Your photo’s will download through isync to iPhoto & you will be notified of any conflicts then your library will be updated on your iPhone at the same time if you added stuff on your comp. This would work the same for all apps
- iBackup will combine Time machine & iDVD it will be used to access & create backups which can be backed up on Blueray, DVD, CD, harddrives, thumbdrives etc. eg backing up your music to CD you movies & videos to DVD & your photo’s to maybe a thumbdrive but obviously it’s your choice
