iPhography by Darrel Austin - “The Games People Play” Taken on iPhone 4 using Hipstamatic
(Just an aside, a Flickr group for submissions would be a more iPhone friendly option…)
[Editor] - Thanks for the suggestion. We did have a Flickr group & tested it for about a year. But it only achieved 3 things
- People didn’t bother coming to this site, they would just go to Flickr, which just hurt our ability to build a following here
- People uploaded every iPhograph they had no matter how bad, so we spent more time editing & making flickr a better site than our own (We currently only let people submit 1 iPhograph per day now)
- We had to cut and paste every image from there to here, which was time wasting duplication
Our current submission form means people are more selective about the iPhographs they submit. We did offer people the option of emailing their submissions but the info they put in the body of the email gets deleted & we are unable to give credit to the iPhographer.
We love Tumblr & have a couple of thousand followers, so every time your iPhography gets featured it lands on the dashboard of many iPhography lovers not to mention the thousands of non-tumblr followers
PS. We also received this question from Dominique James ”Is there a way to submit iPhone photos directly from the iPhone? :) Thanks!”
Sorry Dominique not at the moment, yes I know it seems a bit rediculous for an iPhone photography site not to be able to directly submit from the iPhone but we may add that feature again soon if we can find a way to cut down on bogus submissions. We are working on it & I will add a post to the blog once we have created it. Apologies again, Tumblr just doesnt have a method we are happy with at the moment. But we can vouch that it works great from your desktop
