Did Steve let the cat out of the bag?

If your anything like me, when watching todays keynote speech by Steve Jobs announcing the new lineup of products, you enjoy reading between the lines just as much as hearing what Steve wants us to know.

Steve and his ‘reality distortion field’ seemed to be waning. Even though this had some of the coolest announcements for a while (the nano wowed me more than the iPad) people weren’t whooping & cheering at every utterance as usual. It was especially noticeable during the iPod touch announcement where most people were quiet & seemed like they were silently saying ‘yeah & what else’. But the thing is, just because some of the features had already been seen in the iPhone, I still think that some of the iPods new features are a really big deal (such as Facetime & the forward facing camera)

But here is where the polish also wore off. The famous showman several times referred to products by the wrong name confusing even me. The iPod nano as the iPod Touch, The iPod Touch as the iPhone etc..

But here is where it gets interesting…….

Steve said “HDR is coming to iPad”. Now Apple rarely gives away big clues to up and coming products, but the only way the new HDR feature can come to the iPad is if a new model with a camera is also going to be announced (It only works when capturing a shot, not from library images). So when iOS 4.2 hits the streets can we expect an iPad with a camera joining the iPhography family? Should you wait till then to get one?? Who knows, maybe it was just a stuff up like iPod Touch/iPhone…….

or maybe not

Once again, you heard it here first…. Oh wait, no hang on, you heard it from Steve first!
