Pure iPhographer
Well It’s official. I finally made the jump & have become a 100% pure iPhographer. As space on my iPhone rapidly decreased due to the volume of iPhographs on it, I decided there was only one thing to do. Delete all the music!
To be honest I am a very visual person & find music rather irritating when I’m out & about. I like to enjoy my surroundings & be as observant as possible rather than disconnecting from them.
I like to hear the sounds of the things around me, people chatting in cafe’s, the street lights beeping, the sound of my feet on the pavement (yes many of us dont often wear shoes in Australia) or even the truck I didn’t see that is about to run me down & smear my brains like Vegemite on hot tar
But I do have my computer, stereo & classic iPod all loaded with music at home for when the urge strikes.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I was a band photographer traveling festivals for 7 years & spent so much time around music that I learnt to switch it out of my mind to stop distractions & focus (no pun intended) on what I was photographing.
I often work here at home without any music as well, I feel that my mind has an easier time to create with a blank slate. As much as I can find music inspirational, I think that I would rather live a life worth recording than to live my life listening to the recordings of other peoples lives
Of course it’s all horses for courses but I am happy I have taken the plunge. I now have the freedom to shoot as many things as I like.
I suppose as capacity increases on future versions of iPhones, music may creep back onto my iPhone, cause I do sometimes miss my Donovan, Cat Stevens & The Pixies
Have you taken the plunge? Let us know in the comments what you think
