To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…. I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them

Actually the real reason we think for Apples sudden stance on “”“Adult content”“” is that they want to sneak the iPad through all of the education boards & Parents & teachers associations.
The reason we believe they have very hypocritically allowed Sports Illustrated & Playboy to remain in the store is once again due to the iPad. The main feature of the iPad is that it’s a kindle killer & designed to be perfect for reading books & magazines. So the last thing Apple wants to do before it launches the iPad is to piss off 2 massive publishing companies & by eliminating peoples other choices for ‘adult content’ (Not that I would even deem it adult content) they create a bubble of protectionism for the major players
On a personal stance. I am sick off people finding fleshy bumps covered in small pieces of lycra offensive yet at the same time allowing depictions of violence & weaponry to somehow be socially acceptable. Apple does this by deleting swimsuit apps at the same time as promoting games that require you to shoot people.
When was the last time a school kid burst into an American classroom armed only with a pair of breasts & proceeded to kill dozens of people?
Yes I know its Apples store & they can sell what they want & I hate the App makers that put 20 swimsuit photos in an app & sell it for $2 & clog up the store with thousands of similar apps but its not the point.
The next interesting thing is what books will Apple start to ban based on complaints once the ibook store is open. The first sign of a totalitarian regime is limiting peoples access to books that in their own determination are subversive. At least with paper based books if you wanted to fight ‘the powers that be’ you could produce your own books & distribute them. But imagine a digital future where you have almost no recourse.
On a separate note. Imagine collecting a lifetime of books on the iPad & not being able to hand them down to your children or even to be able to sell them second hand. I have many books that I have purchased that have double or quadrupled in value because of collectability, a legacy that can be left to my loved ones. I can also put them under wobbly tables to stabilize them, try that with an iPad & in those dooms day survival movies, they always burn the books to stay warm. How long would your iPad keep you toasty?
But seriously, you probably noticed that the web was completely abuzz with the iPads announcement, yet that we didn’t write anything about it here at iPhography.com is because we were majorly underwhelmed by it. Is it a great piece of design? Yes, but unlike my iPhone that replaced my MP3 & my camera & my mobile & a whole host of other things, the iPad doesn’t replace anything, nor do many things new that I can’t already do. Not to mention that it has by modern standards about as much memory as a goldfish (128GB would have been my minimum limit).
My next purchase will be a laptop, I cant afford an iPhone, iPad & a desktop/laptop. Between the iPhone & laptop I will be able to do almost everything I need to. Unless things change with revisions of the iPad or I become wealthy enough to have one for fun. I cant see me buying one anytime soon
PS Apple - would it have been to hard to put the SD card slot in the iPad instead of having to carry around another accessory? It’s hard to find anything that doesn’t use SD these days

New Apple patent shows plan for improved cameras

A new Apple patent has surfaced detailing plans of how they can achieve a better mobile photography experience. The patent also depicts an iPhone/iPod with a forward facing camera

The basic concept is that to compensate for manufacturing abnormalities the camera will take a video sample & then use this sample to compensate for any light or colour differences as compared to an established example

This could mean much more uniformity & accuracy in the reproduction of mobile imaging devices

The exciting part for us is the depiction of the forward facing camera may mean video conferencing / video calls
